HOS MESSAGE
At ICS Addis we believe that all students can learn and engage at the highest levels . We believe that learning how to learn is the most important skill we can equip our students with . As a professional learning community , we are dedicated to doing everything in our power to become a highly effective and learning progressive school . This means that we are dedicated to ensuring that all students have the academic skills necessary to access and manage their learning and have the ability to apply their learning in meaningful and authentic ways .
I am proud of the hard work going on at ICS from the best educators and staff , ensuring your student / s have an amazing learning experience . Here are some of the highlights from last year and what we are looking forward to this school year .
The 2019-20 School Year
• ICS reached the highest student enrollment numbers of its history with over 900 students attending school simultaneously .
• ICS graduated seniors continue to access the universities of their choice all over the world . With a 100 % pass rate for full IB Diploma candidates , this year ICS graduates were accepted into every Ivy League school in the US , and many other top universities around the world .
• ICS had the honor of hosting its second PLC at Work Institute , welcoming world-renowned educators such as Mike Mattos , Nicole Dimich , and Sascha Heckmann to its stage .
• ICS created a clear and actionable definition of learning .
• COVID - ICS Addis like all schools around the world , had to reinvent themselves in the spring . Despite the global COVID-19 pandemic , ICS was able to continue the educational experience for all of our students , being able to pivot to online delivery with just a few days notice . The Continuous Learning Program at ICS ensured that all ICS students were able to continue their education while in a safe place .
A look at this current year , 2020-21 some of our successes to date
• Strong enrollment and safely open campus despite COVID
• Completion of the stunning ES building , purpose-built to support student learning
• Established Learning Communities schoolwide
• Have become a Professional Learning Community exemplar school
This year has already been challenging and exciting and I know we will learn a lot about what we are doing well and where we can continue to evolve through our self-study and accreditation from the Council of International Schools , International Baccalaureate Diploma Program , and from the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools .
What also sets ICS apart is our amazing and diverse parent community . We are nothing without our dedicated parents , who are our partners in their children ’ s education .
