 LEARNING COMMUNITIES
At ICS we have designed Learning Communities , which are spaces where learning is collaborative and co-constructed between teachers and students , spaces where students work with each other to learn , grow , and excel , together .
In the 2020-21 school year , we are thrilled to have our new elementary school building . Our new building has been purposefully designed to support and enhance our learning communities . There is none other in Africa with as much flexible space to accommodate every type of ES learner . We have open spaces , individual spaces , mini-group spaces , quiet spaces , “ wet ” spaces for messy projects , and cozy spaces for reading and reflecting . The ability of students to choose a space that works for them and their context , a space that allows group work and collaboration while at the same time provides a space for quiet reading and individual focus , is a key part in providing student agency in their learning process .
