icreate Africa. www.icreateafrica.com The event was scheduled to hold across 3 regions in Nigeria: North, South East, and South West. After a successful northern regional skills competition, which was held in Kaduna in April, iCreate hosted the South-East edition in Enugu at the Kobb Civic Centre of Polo Park Mall on the 19th -20th July. The competition hosted 50 competitors across 10 skilled trades: Tiling, Carpentry, Plumbing, Tailoring, Make-Up Art, Leatherworks, Art, Graphics design, Web design, and Cooking. Competitors were required to execute a test project designed by the appointed iCreate expert within 13 hours. The 2-day event was witnessed by hundreds of guests including government officials, students from technical colleges and employers of labor. Also featured was a press conference held by the organizers and partners. This was directed towards informing the general public about the importance of skills in curbing youth unemployment and driving economic growth. The event rounded up with an awards ceremony which is known as the iCreate Skills Awards to honor ICREATE SKILLS FEST 2019 ENUGU skills excellence and celebrate the contestants for outstanding performances. The contestant with the highest scores was awarded medal, cash prize, and training in preparation for the National ICreate Skills Competition scheduled to hold on 4-5th December ICreate Africa is a hub for skills development designed to equip youths with skills in demand. Through skills competition, training and exposure to best practices, iCreate is building a skill ecosystem that is set to create 4 million jobs across the continent by 2030. The social enterprise ICreate Africa is led by young founder Bright Jaja who was recently listed on Forbes Africa 30 under 30 as one of Africa‘s gamechanger disrupting the Technical Education in the continent.
