icreate Africa. www.icreateafrica.com How would you describe your participation in the iCreate Skills Competition 2018 in Abuja? My participation in the iCreate skill competition 2018 in Abuja was a success. It was a wonderful experience and great exposure which have given me a lot and realized a lot too. I was given a reason to research more about my profession to keep to date with best and world standard practices. It has also helped me to achieve a long awaited dream which is to provide water in its neatest form to my client and also in its simplest, cheapest and convenient form. I gained a lot more experience. What problems do plumbers face in the course of their work? Some of the problems the plumbing profession is facing includes lack of qualified and technically sound technicians who are actually practicing or getting involved on-site. There is shortage of standard practices which shaded the image of the profession and thus brought a setback and unwillingness of people to learn the profession. 20 What is your message for the organiser? I thank the organizer for the opportunity to experience another side of my profession in the practical aspect. I will want the organizer to keep doing the good work and, if possible, extend such platform to states around the nation. Is there anything you would want government to do in the area of skills development for the youth, especially for plumbers? Skill competitions and any skill development project should be seen as a tool of national development to fight drug abuse, thug life among the youths and also as a means of creating employment by preparing youth to be self- employed. What are your plans since you emerged as winner in the Skill Fest 2018? After emerging as winner, I plan to increase my knowledge of the profession and also be an ambassador in promoting skill development, and be the best in the plumbing profession Kumshuan Taldang, Skill Champion Plumbing
