Focus...

Written by David Green

No surprises here. A movie about con artists grifters and thieves that stole my money. Will Smith should follow his peer Johnny Depp's lead and fire his agent. His track record is growing more and more stale with each film.

Focus was anything but. It had very little lift and should have been named "How to get away with stealing a wallet". Sorry Shonda fans. This movie dragged and disappointed.

Will Smith, who plays a master manipulator and con artist, was the supposed headliner and was outshined by his co-star Margot Robbie, whom without the film would be unwatchable. Margot, playing a naive and sloppy pick pocket is taken on and tutored under the wing of a much more experienced Will Smith.

The whole film felt like a setup. I was almost never surprised, except once, that a job was in motion.

Focus tried way to hard to be sexy and seductive and spent too little building a case for an antagonist worth believing in.

My vote says wait for video for this one. Worth a Saturday afternoon viewing, but best at home on your own terms. Not Will Smith's, you can't trust a con man.

Grade for me is an even C.
