This book was inspired by Standard 3 students of Guayaguayare R.C. School and
Ortoire R.C. School participating in the Bridge Foundation’s Read to Rise (R2R) Green
Space Programme in partnership with The University of West Indies (UWI) Department
of Creative and Festival Arts (DCFA).
Through innovative classroom reading, knowledge building, storytelling and art
interpretation, primary school children shared their hopes, passions, dreams and
personal stories of their community as well as provided child-centered solutions to
improve, preserve and protect their local environment. They also offered inspirations
about their favorite places of exploration and play including their day-to-day
experiences, and interactions with their environment for the development of images,
illustrations and story ideas to make this R2R Green Space book come alive.
This co-authored R2R Green Space student book is filled with fictional and non-fictional
characters engaging in environmentally-friendly solutions and fun adventures to protect
and sustain their environment.
