Message from the 2014/2015 National Advocate ‘Give me the faith which can remove, And sink the mountain to a plain.’ Charles Wesley This is one of the hymns we sang at my Induction Service over a year ago and it was a genuine prayer on my part as I looked at the mountain ahead. I had never undertaken anything like it before and I viewed the task with excitement, but with not a little apprehension. Now as I prepare to hand over to my successor, Revd John Bolton, I look back with gratitude on the past year as a time of real blessing and inspiration. I have had the privilege of meeting with LWPT supporters in large gatherings, in more intimate Local Preachers’ Meetings, at the Christian Resources Exhibition in London and at services in different parts of the country. I have represented LWPT at the Wesleyan Reform Union Conference and visited all four Westerley Care Homes for their open days/anniversaries. One of the highlights for me was the presentation of a certificate on behalf of LWPT to a wonderful lady centenarian at Westerley Woodhall Spa. On average there has been just a little over one commitment a month and I thank all of you for your fellowship and encouragement during that time. I urge you to continue your invaluable support of LWPT in all its work of helping to provide excellent resources for preachers of all denominations – all round the Connexion I have heard praise for the magazine ‘Preach’ and for our lively website. Many are excited also by LWPT’s commitment to encouraging people to explore their vocation to a preaching ministry by offering grants to help them follow their chosen path. How grateful we are too, to the faithful staff in LWPHomes, who care for those whom God has given us to look after! One resident told me she would be happy to tell anyone about the wonderful attention she was receiving – she couldn’t speak highly enough of all the staff. So, as I say goodbye in my role as LWPT National Advocate, I look forward to meeting you again at some future event, because I shall continue to be part of LWPT/LWPHomes. My grateful thanks for all you are doing to support those who preach and lead worship. Let us all pray for that faith which can move mountains. Every blessing in the name of our common Lord.
