Bible month
LWPT is partnering with the Methodist
Church to put on training days for
preachers involved in Bible Month.
Bible Month is an annual opportunity
for churches to work through one book
of the Bible in a focussed and sequential
manner through Sunday preaching,
small groups and in individual study. In
2017 there were four training days, in
London, Sheffield, Plymouth and Durham. Each day consisted of an overview
of James, the 2017 Bible Month book, from a biblical scholar, and specific help
with how to preach it. Just under 200 people attended the training nationally.

Preaching symposium
LWPT is partnering with the College of Preachers
to launch a new network of researchers and
educators in homiletics sharing vision, ideas
and
best
practice,
building
stronger
relationships across the sector and exploring
common themes.
The inaugural event was a symposium held in London on November 18th
2016. Three participants, Margaret Cooling, Simon Vibert and Liz Shercliff,
presented overviews of their current research areas and six others made
short contributions under the title ‘Top Tips for Homiletics Tutors.’
The day was hosted by Kate Bruce (Cranmer Hall) and Paul Burden (Sarum
College), and was well received by all who attended.
If you are a researcher or educator in homiletics and would like to be a part
of this developing network, please email Jo Swinney on
