A Lasting Legacy
We are very grateful to the family of the late Peter Farrer Stock , who sent us a generous donation from his estate .
Peter was born in 1927 in Southport and sadly passed away in February 2021 . Having been born into a Methodist family he was active in the church all his life . Whilst in the RAF in India after World War II , he helped found the Wesley Lodgers .
Peter served over 50 years in the Sale Circuit , was a founder member of the Avenue Methodist Church and set up the Young People ’ s Fellowship .
Peter ’ s wife Lila , whom he met at a Methodist youth club , predeceased him in 2012 , just a few years after his retirement . We wish Peter ’ s family well and thank them once again for their father ’ s gift , which will help enormously in furthering the cause of LWPT .
In our next issue
In our Winter ’ 21 issue of Preach magazine we ’ ll be inviting preachers and practitioners of the faith to think about Preaching on the Old Testament , asking slightly tongue-incheek questions such as : What good is the OT today ? What did Jesus think of the OT ? What ’ s the point of Leviticus ?
Contributors lined up include : Krish Kandiah , Laura Gallacher , James Catford , Jo Swinney , Ian Paul , Tobi Olujinmi , and Helen Paynter .
We ’ ll also suggest NEW resources for Advent and scope out the theme for Sermon of the Year 2022 !
