over 1,000 viewers and hundreds of people voted for their
favourite of the four sermons. If you haven’t seen it yet or just
want to see the winning sermon once again, it’s still available at
preachweb.org/final.
Our panel of judges, led by Dr Chloe Lynch (pictured right),
Lecturer in Practical Theology at London School of Theology,
chose the winner based on a number of criteria including
identifying and engaging with scripture, handling of biblical
themes and ideas and how the sermon connected with the theme.
Chloe commented,
“The judges enjoyed all four preachers that we heard and we
were encouraged by the ease with which the preachers adapted
to delivering their sermons via video-conferencing. William’s
sermon demonstrated powerful communication skills and a
creative engagement of the theme in the context of some detailed
attention to a biblical text.”
You can read the top ten sermons from this year’s event, including
those from all the finalists, in our Sermon of the Year 2020 book
