ICA Update No. 104 | Page 6

130 years Director of Alumnae Relations' Corner Dear Alumnae and Friends, A s we close our celebration of 130 years, I wanted to share with all of you my letter that was published in our 2008 Anniversary issue of the Harris Alumnae Directory. Some of you may not have had the oppor tunity to purchase the Directory. I invite you to look back at your days at 24th and Guerrero and set your goals for the future. Please include giving back of your time, talent and treasures to ICA. Look to see where you can make a difference in the lives of your Spar tan sisters as we go forward in these exciting and challenging times. The decision made by your Dominican Sisters to enter into the Cristo Rey Network at ICA, their founding school and original Motherhouse, has opened the doors of education in the classroom and experience in the workplace to many young women who desire to continue their Catholic education but whose families struggle financially. In the 13-year-old network of 26 schools, we continue to be the only all-girls school in the network and the first in the San Francisco Bay Area. Be proud of your Alma Mater! Buon Natale and Buon Anno! A Message from the Director of Alumnae Relations Dear Fellow Alumnae, As we celebrate 130 years on the corner of 24th and Guerrero, I celebrate you, my fellow Alumnae, who have given me 100% of your support for the past 28 years. As ICA Alumnae, we have received the gift of an education in the Dominican tradition that promoted academic excellence, life-long learning, and service to God, family and community. Our mission at ICA remains the same today. You have truly given back, through your generosity and your belief that young women should receive the same quality Catholic education that once was afforded to you. The Dominican Sisters, students, faculty and staff remain indebted to you for the consistent support and pride you take in having graduated from the Academy. Yes, the times may be different in the 21st Century, but the goals of an ICA education and the values we teach remain the same. I have been blessed to be "one of you" and I continue to treasure your friendship and, especially, my classmates from the Class of 1960. I encourage you to use your Alumnae Association to maintain ties to your ICA family and to continue to support not only your Alma Mater, but one another. We are here for you - the doors at 3625 24th Street are always open! Join me now in the challenge to go forward, ensuring that we will continue to extend the opportunity for young women to attend ICA, receive a quality Catholic education in the "Spartan Spirit," and say with pride "I'm a graduate of Immaculate Conception Academy!" Be proud of your Alma Mater! With love and gratitude, Patricia (Paton) Cavagnaro '60 Director of Alumnae Relations 6 Fall 2013
