ATEME – Stand 1. D71 The video compression solutions specialist will display two major innovations on the contribution side. The first is a partnership extension with next-gen satellite communications standard provider NovelSat to use its modulation / demodulation PCIe board, which is compatible with the ATEME platform and COTS server. Secondly is ContentSecure, which provides dynamic and rolling protection for broadcasters’ most valuable content, including sports.

The company will demonstrate a variety of innovative workflows and technologies, all of which run in the cloud and on-premises. Highlights include: High Dynamic Range – Broadcast of HDR 10 and HLG channels using any combination of HLG, HDR 10 and SDR source content with AWS Elemental Live, enabling broadcasters to launch HDR channels with a mix of existing SDR and HDR content, including promotions, advertisements, motion graphic overlay and program content; Live Channel Playout – A software-based approach to linear 24 / 7 broadcast channel creation that reduces video workflow complexity, improves resiliency and lowers operational costs; Managing massive VoD libraries – Spotlighting the simplified management of massive VoD content libraries as a single AWS Elemental Delta node manages one million VoD assets, stored in Amazon Simple Storage Service( Amazon S3) and each associated with a thumbnail and metadata.
The company will also unveil updates to cloud migration and workflow support as well as new capabilities for delivering superior augmented and virtual reality experiences.
BT Media & Broadcast – Stand 0. D02 The digital media and broadcast solutions arm of BT has more than 60 years’ experience in providing global media solutions, dating back to the first international TV broadcasts. Its core business is to support the workflow of getting content from glass( of the camera) to glass( of the consumption or viewing / listening device). This applies to all aspects of the supply chain for television and film production, post production, contribution and distribution.
BT M & B will be exhibiting exciting developments in next-generation broadcast technologies at this year’ s IBC. The team will display their latest capabilities by broadcasting a number of sporting events, showcasing demos and hosting panel sessions with experts for attendees to enjoy.
On Saturday and Sunday afternoons, BT will live broadcast an Aviva Rugby Championship match in UHD, using its most advanced hybrid fibre / satellite UHD links truck and the latest High Efficiency Video Coding( HEVC) equipment from NTT Electronics.
The company will also demo visually lossless UHD contribution, using Imagine Communications’ equipment, with IntoPIX TICO mezzanine compression. This demo will show how live UHD feeds from Premier League stadia can be transported to production hubs, without compromising picture quality. BT’ s bespoke fibre cabinets were built specifically to provide the bandwidth required for these highquality transmissions and one of these cabinets will be on display at the BT stand. Experts will be on hand to also demonstrate how the cabinets can be monitored and controlled remotely.
During the show, the company is also hosting a series of case study-style panel sessions on their stand. On Saturday, the team will be joined by speakers from IMG Worldwide and Premier League Productions to discuss how BT’ s terabit next-generation fibre based contribution network is enabling them to further innovate and enhance their offering overseas to broadcasters of the Premier League. The BT team will also share insights on broadcasting the 2017 UEFA Champions League Final using HDR technology in UHD with Dolby Atmos sound and using virtual reality.
On Sunday, speakers from the BBC, Cisco and Nevion will also gather to discuss the broadcaster’ s new all-IP broadcast network, which was delivered by a team of over a thousand engineers over the last eighteen months. The new network will deliver considerable savings and pave the way for future digital innovation for the BBC.
