INTERNET SERVICES n EXPERTS LANE
21st Century PC Connections

ecure high-speed internet is a
great tool to add to your home
or office! Especially, since
computers (desktops, laptop,
smartphones and tablets) and
computer networks were created to
simplify our lives. I realize that there
may still be some people that use a dial
up internet connection. Are you aware
that even DSL internet service is the
same price (if not only slightly higher) as
dial up internet? Going to high speed
internet gives you many more features
over dial up. For starters...
1. The connection is constant: you no
longer need to connect and/or
disconnect.
2. The speed is not only constant,
it is also able to support multiple
devices when you have a computer
network set up in your home or
office.
3. With that network, you can have
multiple printers, a USB external
hard drive for file storage and backup.
4. With a high-speed internet connec-
tion, it is easier to upload and share
photos of the grandchildren as
well as other family and friends.
5. Mandatory software downloads are
faster.
The advantages to having high speed
internet connected to your home
network includes sharing large and/
or millions of files between multiple
computing and computing-related
devices such as a printer, external
hard drives, etc., for use by multiple
people simultaneously. When the
computer was publicized in the mid-
eighties, it was intended to help us
save the environment. It was designed
as a better way to create and store
documents without a "file cabinet."
Before computers, we had to type
documents on a typewriter or a word
processor. Which meant we had to cut
down more, in addition, we used more
natural resources to design file cabinets
of either wood or metal, etc.
Computers and a high-speed network
were designed in such a way that we
almost do not have to leave home for
anything! We can set your smartphone
or tablet to print to the same printer
your computer prints to. We can also
configure your home printer to be
accessed over the internet. In other
words, you can be anywhere in the
world and print to your home printer.
Yes, I know some people would never
agree to that. But I am just sharing what
is possible.
Should you also desire, you can connect
your home security system. You could
also create a smart house by connecting
your pertinent devices to your home
network. I realize that people will be
nervous about newer computers and
operating systems, however, I have also
noticed that once we become familiar
with a system, device or technology we
openly embrace it. Think about it, most
people will buy the Samsung Galaxy S8
or the Apple iPhone 10 simply to have
the latest device!
Yet, an entrepreneur will not only get
the latest device, but will also learn
how to make that device open the
door and bring money. In addition,
the entrepreneur will continue to learn
how to use that device to its fullest
capability to further enhance their life
and/or business daily. And yes, while
it connects us for beneficial reasons, a
computer can also bring distractions.
Take Facebook for instance, there is
nothing wrong with using Facebook
to attain the news, but som
