THE MISSION: Restoring hope to individuals impacted by
homelessness by providing basic needs such as showers, clean
laundry, remedial aid and a higher quality of mindfulness. By
meeting these needs, we will motivate these individuals to
progressive movement.
WHAT WE DO: Share the love of Christ to the homeless
community by meeting certain necessities that often go
overlooked. Why we want to do it: The state of Florida
ranks 3rd out of the 5 states that contribute to nearly HALF
of the nation’s homeless population. In the census last year,
Florida accounted for more than 45,000 homeless persons,
not counting children. Orlando gave a count of over 2,900
individuals impacted by homelessness. We feel that this has
become an issue that we can no longer ignore. The only way
to end this is to take action.
SHOWERS: The purpose of our shower program is to refresh
the bodies of homeless individuals. Our program gives
individuals an opportunity to walk with dignity. Our goal for
showers is to purchase a mobile shower suite so that we can
provide showers on a full-time basis.
LAUNDRY: Our laundry program is to provide a safe place
Founder of Street Team Movement with Steve Harvey
for our clients to wash their clothes. We provide the location
and any resources needed to perform laundry duties. In
partnership with Thornton Park Coin Laundry.
REMEDIAL AID: We equip homeless individuals with hygiene
products & items to protect them from the harsh elements
that occur in Florida.
TAKE ACTION: We are seeking out others who are tired of
turning their eyes away to those in need. How you can help,
visit our site at wwwStreetTeamOrlando.org and
Donate to assist in the purchase of a Mobile Hygiene Unit
needed to retrofit with individual restroom stalls that will give
relief on the go.
We need your help with Remedial Aid donations, such as,
toothpaste, razors, toilet paper, etc...
If you are a Laundry Facility owner, would you be willing to
operate out of business hours or host a wash block specially
for the homeless. We need people willing to be the “Hands
and feet to the streets” of Orlando.
