Financial Healing
By Sharlyne Thomas
“Beloved, I pray that in every way you may succeed and prosper and be in good health
[physically], just as [I know] your soul prospers [spiritually]” (3 John 1:2, AMP).
How do we know that the Lord wants us to be prosperous?
Because Psalm 35:27 states that He takes pleasure in our
prosperity. So you do not have to feel guilty for wanting a
higher degree, a better paying job or better yet, your own
business! We also cannot get discouraged when we fail,
because those obstacles can simply be learning opportunities

for a future victory. And what would be the best way to proceed
along that path to success? Job 36:11 states that if we obey
and serve the Lord, then we will be prosperous.
Let’s be clear about one thing: It’s the love of money that is the
root of all evil (1 Timothy 6:10), not money itself. Therefore,
do not think that purposely living below your potential is an
honorable situation. After two divorces and two layoffs, I know
firsthand what lack feels like. In order for me to become self-
employed, the Lord had to reveal that the gifts He had already
placed in me would be my provision. What talents are you
ignoring or not cultivating because you do not yet realize that
they are meant to sustain you financially?
Believe it or not, the fear of success is just as real as the fear
of failure. Stepping out of our comfort zone and into new
territories is usually very frightening, but that’s why we walk
by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7)! If I was looking
at and concentrating on my checkbook instead of meditating
on and declaring scriptures over my life such as “I am the
head and not the tail” (Deuteronomy 28:13), then I would
not be able to enjoy the freedom to do what I love and get
paid for it! The Lord is glorified by our ability to overcome
our trials, so we cannot give up when the going gets tough.
I know several people who have experienced some form of
physical healing or spiritual healing, and I have personally
experienced financial healing. Prosperity or wealth is not defined
by a specific dollar amount, so do not be tempted to compare
your level of success with someone else’s. For example, although
I am not yet a millionaire, I am already prosperous because I
know that the Lord is my provider and He gives me more than
enough so that I can be a blessing to others.
Your financial healing is within your reach; because when
you do what you were created to do, the Lord will bless all
the works of your hands (Deuteronomy 15:1)!

ormally when you mention healing, most people
immediately think about physical or mental infirmities.
However, the scripture above shows that the Lord not
only cares about our health, but He also wants us to be
prosperous. Now why would two seemingly unrelated topics
be mentioned within the same verse? Here’s one reason: By the
time that we become wealthy, we should also have a healthy
lifestyle in place so we can live long enough to enjoy it! With
any type of healing, it starts with a mindset.
