Top chefs to take the stage

IF you enjoy spending time in the kitchen, you won’ t want to miss a special event on the first day of the Australian Almond Conference. A renowned chef and trailblazer who has changed the landscape of cooking in India will appear on stage with Australian Almonds Ambassador Poh Ling Yeow for an international MasterChef collaboration focusing on maximising the use of almonds in cooking. Sanjeev Kapoor has authored more than 150 cookbooks and has more than 20 million followers on social media.“ I think it’ s important for people to cook at home and that’ s the healthiest way of living when you start knowing what the ingredients are and that’ s what I like teaching people,” he said while appearing on MasterChef Australia as a guest judge earlier this year.“ Indian food, the flavours we have, that complexity, is knowledge that we have gathered over centuries and every person on this Earth should try Indian flavours otherwise it won’ t be a life that is lived well,” Chef Kapoor said. Attendees at the opening day of the conference will get to experience food presented by both Chef Poh and Chef Kapoor.
Helliar headlines gala dinner
ATTENDEES at the Australian Almond Conference’ s gala dinner will be entertained by one of the country’ s favourite comedians. For more than 30 years Peter Helliar has performed at festivals, theatres and comedy rooms across Australia. This month, Helliar is in Melbourne, where his alter-ego Bryan Strauchan is live on stage for the first time, just as the AFL finals series heats up. The entertainer is also a crowd favourite on television, with
appearances on shows including Taskmaster Australia, the Amazing Race Australia, Spicks and Specks, Thank God You’ re Here and Have You Been Paying Attention? The gala dinner is being held on October 14, from 6:30pm at the Adelaide Convention Centre. Industry service awards will also be presented and new growers will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Tickets for the gala dinner can be purchased as part of the registration process for the Australian Almond Conference.
