2024 / 2025 Almond Insights released
THE ABA’ s 2024 / 2025 Almond Insights handbook was released last month, following the compilation of the annual planting survey and marketing data. Following on from last year’ s modest increase, new plantings were restricted to several projects, while tree removals were formalised in other regions, following high rainfall events in late 2022 and early 2023. Based on the information received, total industry plantings have expanded to 66,096 hectares in 2024 / 25 up from the seasonally adjusted plantings of the previous year by 4 %. Self-fertile varieties continue to increase in popularity, while the most favoured variety nonpareil has reduced to 43 % of total plantings. A strong pollination and favourable conditions resulted in a record crop of 163,148 tonnes( KWE) being produced for 2024 / 25, up significantly on the weather-impacted low yield the previous season.
