the systemic abuse of workers by building power through relationships with fellow low-wage workers and our allies.”

We sat in on one of their meetings as they met with immigrant workers to discuss their paychecks and review their situations with them. Then we helped--working in either childcare, calling for donations, or painting a sign to go outside their facility.

Seeing the number of people working together for such an amazing cause was extremely touching, and it really opened my eyes to the problems of our world here in our own country.

This service learning experience was extremely diverse in activities, lessons, and service, and it led each member of our group to grow so much within three short days. Experiencing these organizations that are working so hard to better our society and to help people was very informative, liberating, and striking. Although I had doubted it at first, the alternative spring break trip was a great decision, and I would do it again in a moment.

Service learning is part of the heartbeat of Reinhardt University. It blurs the line between personal and academic growth and allows for students to enrich their lives in a way that sitting in a classroom just can’t provide. We would encourage everyone to branch out of their comfort zones and experience the world a little differently through service learning. We promise that you won’t regret it!
