"He is a helpful, patient, and caring person."

After that tragedy, he had to drop out of school for a little while. He spent most of that time working to help pay for his schooling.

Epling is a man of many interests. He enjoys sports, history, politics, reading, watching the news, and being informed on current events. However, one of his lasting legacies will be the impact of his mentoring on his students.

Many of Dr. Epling’s graduates have gone to the pros. Some have become sports com-mentators, coaches, athletic directors or teachers in the sports field. Others run golf courses or start their own businesses or fitness facilities. One of his students became a coach at Emanuel High School and won a national title. Heath Hooper was one of his students who became the head of sports programs at Shorter College in Rome, Georgia. A prime example, however, is Pro-fessor Joe Mullins, who is now Epling’s colleague in the Sports Studies program at Reinhardt.

Epling says Mullins is the one who knows him the best here at Reinhardt. Mullins met Epling in 1998 while a Physical Education student at Reinhardt University. Mullins said Dr. Epling taught him everything he has learned in the profession, including how to do the job he has now. He taught him how to be professional both at the school and away from the school. Epling even taught Mullins how to deal with students when they make him upset in class.

They have never coached a team together, but they work together in the Sports Studies program here. Mullins said Epling is one of the best people he has ever met. Professor Mullins said Epling is honest and cares about his students, coworkers, and classes. Prof-essor Mullins said Epling is always profes-sional about what he does and takes his work seriously.

His current students say that he is a passionate and patient professor. Tyler Carter believes Dr. Epling is a great teacher who is very patient with his students.

Since he has witnessed a lot of history, his teaching is very informative. Carter said he would like to take more of his classes while attended Reinhardt. Jasmine Stanley agrees that he is a good professor. She said she especially likes how he goes over material in class, reviewing the notes before the class starts. The only improvement she could suggest was for him to add even more detail to some of his notes and to provide more study guides for the tests. Connor Edwards emphasizes how passionate Epling is about his students and his job. He said the pro-fessor has taught him a lot about succeeding in life.

Sport Studies is good to have knowledge of when your career is dealing with sports. It is also good to know about sports when watching them on television, listening to the radio or even reading about them in magazines and newspapers. Dr. Robert Epling teaches many different classes to help students understand the functions of different sports in our society. The degree programs he has started are helpful to Reinhardt. He is a helpful, patient, and caring person who likes to see his students be successful in the sports program. Even though he has overcome many difficulties while he was striving for success, he still managed to complete his goal and become a great professor of Sport Studies.
