Interactive Media Autoring is the creation of an application for a user to use. An example of this would be a service provided by a website.

Interactive media authoring is done by using many different tools depending on what it is your are authoring. The authoring tools are various software packages and individual software which are used to create different forms of applications. Basic packages could be adobe dreamweaver for website development and Microsoft Access for creating databses which can be interactive. You could also have more advanced packages such as Cryengine for creating video game worlds and Adobe flash for creating interactive animations. The choice of Tool is down to the application you are trying to create.

Before a author comes to creating their application, there is alot to be considered. There are four steps to complete in interactive media authoring. These are planning, design, development and production. All are very important and are all integral parts to creating good interactive media.
