GAELIC FOOTBALL
WELL BEING WEEK
I play for a Gaelic football team, it is a non
contact sport. I am playing this sport since
I was 4 years old, that’s 12 years ago and
I’m still playing. It is a great sport to play,
you get to learn loads of new skills and it’s a
great way to find out where your
weaknesses are.
There is much emphasis in schools in Ireland at the moment on
positive mental health for all. The message ‘It’s OK not to feel
OK and it’s absolutely OK to ask for help’ is being promoted.
Following a conference a number of students from our school
attended and in conjunction with teachers, a Well Being Week
was held from the 2nd-6th May. As one of the activities,
students were invited to draw out the shape of their hand, write
a positive thought that meant something to them and add it to a
wall of positive thoughts where any member of the school
community could be inspired. Students and staff have been
delighted with the final result. I am attaching two photos so you
may see what the wall looked like.
I used to play camogie when I was younger
but I left. It is one of the fastest ball moving
sports to be played. It is also very dangerous
if you are not paying attention or don’t
know how to protect yourself because you
can get hurt very easily. Dublin’s Gaelic
football team for men, it is a brilliant team.
Their matches are always very exciting to
watch and even better when you go to the
stadiums to watch them play. Dublin’s
G aelic football team for women. It is also a
very good team. There matches are very
exciting to watch and they all play very
well. -Nicole Kenny
TRANSITION YEAR TRIP TO ITALY
MY INTRODUCTION
TY students have just come home from our trip to
Lake Garda Sirmione in Italy. We had an amazing time
and saw lots of famous attractions in places such as
Milan, Venice, Verona and Lake Garda all in Italy. We
visited the old town of Sirmione and climbed Monte
Baldo. This is the view from the mountain and of Lake
Garda and the town. – Sophie Jones
Hi, my name is Niamh and I am from St. Michaels in
Dublin. I was talking with my friends and we are very
interested in styling hair and make up. We were
wondering what hairstyles and make up other countries
wear and what products you all use. Over the next few
weeks we will be posting pictures of make up that we
wear and popular hairstyles we here in Ireland wear. On
the pictures we will also try our best to describe how we
do the hairstyles and make up and also be telling you
about the products we use. We would love if you would
like to take part in this and tell us a bit about the
hairstyles and make up/ make up products that are
popular in your country.
