Having visited the Porto Lounge on several occasions there was one thing that had been recommended to me but I have never tried - the breakfasts. Especially good with a hangover but unfortunately on this visit I couldn't vouch for that!
The Porto Lounge is part of the Loungers chain of cafe/bars but once you have stepped inside you don't feel like you are in a chain cafe. Open from 9am til 11pm it is the perfect venue for meeting friends, drinking or grabbing a quick coffee.
Visiting any place to try out their breakfasts there is only one place to start - the English breakfast. It is one meal that no one likes to see a chef take a minimalist view to. Thankfully this wasn't the case. Bacon, beans, toast, mushrooms, tomato and black pudding was all included and very well presented.
With only a handful of people in the Porto Lounge you wouldn't expect a long wait and within ten minutes the food had arrived. And in less than another ten it was gone. Expectations are never that high when it comes to breakfasts, simple and tasty is about it, but the Porto Lounge has managed to increase those standards in taste and presentation. Next time I will test it properly - hungover!
