It wasn ’ t something that anyone could give me if I didn ’ t know how to recognize it in myself first .
Learning to love myself was one of the first steps in me learning what real love was . There was no one on God ’ s green earth that could fill the void of feeling unloved . The only person that could fill the void I had was God through his son , Jesus Christ . It was through developing and building my relationship with God that I discovered what real love was all about . I was tired of always having my heart broken because people didn ’ t know how to love me . I fully surrendered my heart to God , and he revealed to me why I didn ’ t know what real love was . I didn ’ t know how to love myself , and I didn ’ t see myself the way that God saw me . The way I felt about myself reflected in the way that I allowed others to treat me . When I got closer to God and began to study his word , he revealed his heart to me . Part of me learning to love myself came with seeing myself the way my father in heaven sees me . I learned that his love for us is as real as it gets .
In conclusion , I still desire to be in a loving relationship with the man that God designed for me ; however , I am no longer chasing down a man to give me love or show me what real love is . What I have come to know is the real love starts on the inside of us . It starts with tapping into the power of God at work within us . Getting to know him , his undying love for us , how he sees us , and his purpose and plan for our lives unlocks the door to discovering what real love is and that it has been ours for our entire lives .
