Linde to increase green hydrogen production in Brazil Linde ’ s subsidiary White Martins will build , own , and operate a second electrolyzer to produce green hydrogen for the southeast region of Brazil . The 5-MW pressurized alkaline electrolyzer will be located adjacent to the company ’ s existing air separation facility in Jacareí , São Paulo . The new plant will be powered by renewable energy from local solar and wind power projects to produce independently certified green hydrogen .
Once operational , White Martins ’ s new plant will supply green hydrogen to the glass manufacturer Cebrace to reduce emissions from their glass melting furnaces in Jacareí . It will also meet the demand for competitive green hydrogen from existing and new customers across various industrial sectors , including metals , food , and chemicals . The new plant is expected to start operations in 2025 .
White Martins was the first company to produce green hydrogen on an industrial scale with an international certification in
South America , at its plant in Pernambuco in 2022 .
“ Investing in green hydrogen to supply the industrial heart of São Paulo reaffirms our commitment to the energy transition in Brazil ,” said Gilney Bastos , President South Latin America , Linde . “ We look forward to helping Cebrace achieve its decarbonization goals while also supporting merchant customers ’ transition to lower carbon solutions .”
ANDRITZ acquires stake in HydrogenPro ANDRITZ has acquired a 13.8 % stake in the Norwegian company HydrogenPro . The company was founded in 2013 and supplies pressurized alkaline electrolyzers for green hydrogen production . The two companies already entered into a strategic partnership last year to provide integrated solutions for the supply of green hydrogen plants .
The acquisition strengthens the strategic partnership between ANDRITZ and HydrogenPro to serve ANDRITZ ’ s customers even better . HydrogenPro provides the pressurized alkaline electrolyzer components and technology , while ANDRITZ assembles the electrolyzer stacks in its facilities and supplies green hydrogen solutions on an EPC basis .
Joachim Schönbeck , President and CEO of ANDRITZ , said : “ We are pleased to strengthen our partnership with HydrogenPro . Our competencies complement each other ideally to become a recognized and trusted supplier of green hydrogen plants .”
Topsoe announces plans for new electrolyzer factory in Virginia , US Topsoe has announced plans to build a cutting-edge factory in Chesterfield , Virginia , US . The factory will manufacture advanced , energy-efficient Solid Oxide Electrolyzer Cells ( SOEC ), which are essential for the efficient production of clean hydrogen and derivatives such as eAmmonia and eMethanol .
With a planned capacity of more than 1 GW , the factory ’ s output of electrolyzer stacks will enable an annual greenhouse gas emission avoidance of up to 2 million tonnes CO 2
e – the equivalent of avoiding the emissions from more than 400,000 gasoline-powered passenger vehicles driven for a year .
Subject to Final Investment Decision , this more than $ 400-million investment is expected to create at least 150 direct jobs in Virginia and more than 1,000 indirect jobs through the value chain .
