Yeah, you got it, it’ s a F. R. I. E. N. D. S. reference. Random day. I was sitting in my room, scrolling through Facebook when suddenly a google photos notification pops up...“ Look back at your photos from last year”, displaying pictures of me with my batchmates dancing in an ice cream parlour in HKV. That got me taking a stroll down memory lane …
First year. Entered this institute with a beaming look on our faces. Who would’ ve thought we’ d get to live with the‘ brightest minds of the country’. Who would’ ve thought that we actually were one of those minds? Yeah, we were on the top of our worlds, on cloud nine, with the feeling that we had conquered the world. Until of course, we were“ greeted” by the loving smiles of our seniors and brought back to level ground ever so gently. Interaction, the metamorphosis of a‘ student who cracked AIIMS’ into an‘ AIIMSonian’. The next oneand-half months spent going from door to door, remembering Name, State, Semester and Room numbers, doing things our minds could never have imagined. Yeah, it was terrifying at first, but you begin to enjoy it. You make memories you won’ t ever make again. And when you’ re hugged and officially welcomed into the family at the freshers’, that feeling makes all or it worth it.
After the grooming is done, it’ s time to live the best week of the year. Pulse. You might be stamping Delcards or frisking people at the gate and yelling at them, whatever the case, you’ re the boss. It’ s your fest. And it’ s an amazing feeling. Pampered throughout the week by the seniors, fed the most delicious food, attending live concerts for the first time, MRCs, pulse shows you the perks of being in this college.
Suddenly, BAM!! Just when you thought life was heaven, a reality check slams into your face, and you realise there’ s a thing called exams and books, which are still a part of your life. That’ s when most of us discover that the parts of the library other than the water cooler and put our PPDed minds to work again.
As everything else, these times of turmoil also pass
