It means that when you say something which differs slightly, or grossly, from what I've been taught and what I imbibed as I grew up, I will have the power and conscience to hear you out and introspectively question my well established ideas despite years of cortical con- ditioning and not shun you just because you've said something that I was oblivious to or something that I probably perceived to be a taboo. Yes, that is what tolerance means and it's a two-way road. It's a process, rather than a trait, of continuously challenging your acquired ideas as and when you are introduced to newer ones.
