RECOMMENDATIONS FOR SAFE TRAINING PROTOCOLS

Numerous research communities are recommending strength training as an essential component in disease prevention , management and rehabilitation .
The American College of Sports Medicine ( ACSM ) and the American Heart Association ( AHA ), among others , recommend strength training as an essential component in disease prevention , management and rehabilitation .
These authorities are recommending one set consisting of 8-10 exercises , 8-12 repetitions each , two to three times per week . The safe level of intensity is prescribed to 70-80 % of the one rep maximum . Higher intensities can also be tolerated , but will lead to an increase in blood pressure because of the difficulty of avoiding a Valsalva maneuver . Higher velocity training may still be preferred , especially with an older population to provide increased functional gains while preventing cardiovascular stress .
Pneumatic Technology and the unique “ Natural Transmission ” of the HUR machines will allow high velocity training to be performed in a safe and gentle manner . Since the HUR machines also measure the power output of each rep and training session , it is possible to monitor the progress of these submaximal exercises .
