recognize February 15, 2020, as Lateel Richardson Day in Huntsville.
For the past few years, she has been in the running as Citizen of the Year for Walker County as well as Volunteer of the Year.
In 2022, she was given the Humanitarian Award by Tanisha Lillard.
“ Just recently, I received the Humanitarian award from the Roxie Douglas Learning Institute,” Richardson said.
In February of 2024, Richardson had decided it was time to walk away from what she loved to do and decide it was to rest and enjoy life but after experiencing a life changing event with her health she made a promise to God that she would continue to do the assignment that she was instructed to do.
“ My greatest reward is when I show up unexpectedly and surprise families,” Richardson said.“ Just seeing them smile makes it worth it all.”
Hometown Traditions. Hometown Values.
Whenever others try to give her praise, she simply tells them,“ It’ s not about me but it’ s all about the Lord.”
“ I am extremely grateful that God has allowed me to do what I do. I used to hear people say all the time that God has a reward for me just wait Lateel it’ s coming,” Richardson said.
She says the day God removed five cysts from her breast was the day God rewarded her by giving a second chance at life. She would like say“ Thank you” to God, her family, friends and everyone that has ever supported her.
“ I am grateful so very grateful,” Richardson said.
