My favorite time of the year

Ilove the Fall , and not just because October is my birthday month .

This time of the year is when the weather starts to cool and we settle into the routines we ’ ll be in for the rest of the year . School is back in session and the bright lights of Friday night football cap off the end of every week .
October is best known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month , so for this issue of Huntsville Living magazine , we opted to take a slightly different path to honor the women that help make the world a better place . Instead of traditional survivor stories , we chose to focus on four women that have made a massive impact to the Huntsville and Walker County community . These women include Stephanie Pitts of Advantage Specialties , Elizabeth Hukill of Daisy ’ s Diner , Renee Spivey of

Joseph Brown

Woman of Worth and Kim Bius of Kim ’ s Home and Garden .
Our cover story highlights Hooks Family Farms and the art of canning and preserving . Items from the family farm can be found in markets across Huntsville .
Other key features in this issue include our Music Scene feature with local songwriter Logan McCune and an Education Spotlight on veteran bus driver Lovie Williams , who recently celebrated her 40th year behind the wheel of a school bus .
Don ’ t miss our interview with Ranger John Herron , who points out six hidden gems that locals can explore at Huntsville State Park .
Enjoy the September and October issue of Huntsville Living magazine , and enjoy this time of the year . Please , stay safe and healthy , and I ’ ll see you in the next edition .
