AN EXTREME WORKOUT Iron Works Health Club helps locals reach new levels

To an eXtreme Workout newbie , the scene at Iron Works Health Club is intimidating to say the least .
Kettlebells swing through the air like crashing waves up and over people ’ s heads before they switch to overhead barbell lifts , tossing them to the ground with a roar of loud clangs after each completed set . There ’ s lots of grunting , everyone is drenched in sweat , the music is blaring and , to someone that likes to take their time moseying around an air conditioned gym , it looks down right torturous on the surface . Why would someone put themselves through this ? “ I think a lot of it is the camaraderie , being able to meet people who are like-minded ,” said Becky Zelewski , general manager and eXtreme Workout trainer at Iron Works Health Club .
Consistency in the gym is essential to achieving any goal , and the boot camp program certainly holds its clients accountable to showing up and seeing it through .
A group of women pushes each other through each set , giving words of encouragement to one another while another duo faces each other like mirrored parallels holding one other accountable for each rep . They push themselves and compete against one another , and by the end of the session , like any family would , they stick around to cheer on those left straggling behind in their last reps .
“ Each class has a little bit of a different feel to it , but you ’ re going to probably find somebody that ’ s going to push you or be able to keep you moving forward in your goals ,” Zelewski said . “ We ’ re in a spot where we can foster that mentality . Yes , we put the workouts together , yes , we help to coach through the different skills , make sure everybody ’ s going to be in a good position and learn the form as they go . However , the classes in themselves have formed this community that help to keep
