Training for life through development & performance
After starting out with a basketball goal tied onto the bed of a truck , Terrence O ’ Bryant started helping people out in every aspect of life as he opened his CTE 365 personal training facility .
Based in a storage unit off Highway 150 in New Waverly , O ’ Bryant has worked with people of all ages to help them learn the best way to work out their bodies , given their age and abilities they can work on .
Starting out working with his son , and doing some stuff with higher-level athletes , O ’ Bryant started to realize that not everybody understood how to work out and that it was a small percentage of people who understood what they needed to do .
So about two years ago , he started with a group of ladies at the track that gave him the thought that he could help reach a broader market .
“ I loved doing camps and just working with people . That group took off and I started getting into the difference between sports training to general health and fitness training ,” O ’ Bryant said . “ It has been a gradual progress to where we are now . You think everybody knows how to work out and everybody knows how to exercise , but the general population doesn ’ t . I was trying to reach the part of the community that wants to exercise , but didn ’ t have the background .”
Running camps became the first way that O ’ Bryant started helping people . During college , O ’ Bryant helped with camps and always had a knack for working with kids and helping them develop their skills outside of the typical athletic program .
But it wasn ’ t until recently that O ’ Bryant opened up a facility that could further train athletes and everyday people .
“ When I started my first group , I saw they responded to it and it kind of evolved from a couple of kids . When we got the new storage facility in New Waverly , I leased out one of the units and built it out for a gym . It took off from that point ,” O ’ Bryant said . “ Now I am getting a bigger space . We were just using whatever we had to get the exercises going . Once I got the space , it became more consistent .”
While always being into fitness , O ’ Bryant was driving around for work when he heard a commercial come across the radio . He recalled it as a rundown for wanting to be a personal trainer and he checked all the boxes .
After going home and talking to his wife about it , O ’ Bryant began the process of getting his training license and focusing on it as a job rather than a hobby .
From there , everything changed and it became more about helping people get healthy and providing them with a place to work out .
“ It ’ s basic training that I have taken for granted . It ’ s a small percentage of the American population that is or has ever been involved in sports . I ’ m a real people person so that was the easy part for me . I think that is my number one gift . We work out hard , but you are going to enjoy it . I can control the environment . Most times personal training is about the relationship ,” O ’ Bryant said . “ People are entrusting you a lot to ask what is better for themselves . You wouldn ’ t walk into the grocery store and ask what is the best for me . The relationships are important to me . I always try to have an answer for them , so I had to start learning some more stuff .”
Having O ’ Bryant as a personal trainer can stretch across a lot of different markets . His clients range from four years old and 90 years old and they all have left feeling the same
