While Huntsville ’ s offense struggled at times during the season they were still able to muster up 188 points over the year and get multiple people involved in the offense with senior receiver Matthew Tatum and sophomores Savion Conteh and Mu ’ Koryc Norman .
A majority of the Hornets seniors were on the offensive line and they helped lead the run game up front , with guys like Chris Smith , Cesar Robledo and Nathan Schweitzer blocking the front .
While the seniors did play a pivotal part of the team , a
bigger focus for the Hornets was being able to develop young talents to create depth for future years .
“ You want your seniors to get in but more importantly you want to see your program continue to move ,” Southern said . “ Our program is still moving forward with the underclassmen . Jawann got healthy but was never really 100 %. You want to get everybody healthy and you hope by the time you start spring training in April that everybody is healthy and it sets us up for next year .”
The Hornets now turn their attention to the offseason program that will include a typical spring program in April .
