“ Those are big shoes to fill ,” Schaub said . “ We have some really good seniors that are graduating but we have some good kids coming up . Those guys that have played football and basketball these years have been successful in every sport because of their chemistry .”
Defense was also a big thing for the Bulldogs as they saw senior defensive end Dylan Schaub help lock up an entire side to eliminate the run game .
Dylan has been a mainstay for the Bulldogs on the defensive line , as the Bulldogs ’ tight end and their primary long snapper . Offensively he wasn ’ t as big of a presence this year but still hauled in 10 catches for 136 yards and two touchdowns .
“ Our defense played lights out ,” Schaub said . “ In every game , our defense held their own . Losing Joe , Jeremy , Dylan and Will . Losing those guys will be tough . We will have to scheme things differently next year .”

New Waverly had a chance to take the lead late but couldn ’ t overcome it .
“ We had high hopes and we thought we had a chance to make a deep run ,” Schaub said . “ Reflecting on the season , our overall execution fell short .”
