I am speaking to any of you recent graduates who may have graced the pages of this special supplement - honoring the lifelong efforts of continuing your education to completion of your high school diploma .
Slow down . Don ’ t be in a rush with your life . Enjoy the next step . Remember your goals . Reflect and find your focus .
Those are all things I was likely told at 17 when I graduated . Let ’ s just say , those words of advise didn ’ t sink in until much later .
I say slow down so you can see the lessons for what they are . If you don ’ t like being told how to avoid stumbles and pitfalls , then slow down and evaluate how you got there . Don ’ t rush to grow up . Take your time learning what works for you . That is the only way you are going to succeed . Enjoy the process of your 20s . You will never get them back . Remember where you want to get - whether in furthering your education or starting your career .
And if you find yourself asking how you got here , sit down and reflect .
