to spend time preparing the soil by adding lots of organic matter , and ensuring that the soil is well drained . Choose a spot with good morning sun and some afternoon shade . Azaleas will not bloom well if they get too much shade and they may get stressed out if they get too much sun and the soil conditions become unbalanced .
Lastly , a fun thing you can do right now indoors is start putting together a beautiful hanging basket of petunias , ferns , or other suitable flowers , to add an immediate pop of color this early spring for your porch or out in your garden while you wait for the rest of the garden to burst with life .
