HUNTSVILLE LIVING | FEBRUARY | MARCH 2022 | 3
from the editor
Springtime is right around the corner , and if you ’ re like me , the arrival of the new season is invigorating . The air is light and fresh with the thrilling hum of change billowing in the breeze .
It ’ s no secret that changes have been happening at The Item , we ’ ve lost a plethora of familiar faces , but what ’ s most important is that though our team may currently be small , we are still striving to provide the best coverage for the community we call home .
So while goodbyes are never easy , we ’ re taking in a heavy breath of fresh air as we look ahead to turning a new leaf covering all things Huntsville .
In this issue , Walker County Master Gardener Michelle Blair will walk you through preparing your garden for the new season , engraining the concept that good things grow where we take care .
I ’ ll take readers inside the private studio of local artist Paula McCullough , who makes functional pieces out of salvaged metal and tells her journey of self discovery . We ’ ll also spend some time with Courtney Ehlert and Cameron Seale of GF & Wild to learn about their colorful balloon installations you ’ ve likely seen around town .
Jacob Courtney will take you on a trip back in time to learn the story of Scott E . Johnson , the namesake of one of Huntsville ’ s elementary schools . He will also spotlight Yoga for Seniors , a growing program that is helping the community ’ s seniors stay in tip top shape .
Hit the field with sports editor Colton Foster as he talks local football , highlighting the young athletes of Alpha Omega Academy , Huntsville High School and New Waverly High School .
We hope you enjoy our stories just as much as we enjoyed writing them .
Thanks always for your continued support ,
