said . “ When I stopped living for everyone else and their standards , I became my own person .”
Nowadays , Killingsworth spends his days booked solid at his salon .
“ My philosophy on life is to do better than the day before and to help others , brings me joy ,” Killingsworth said .
And bringing joy can sometimes take on different skills than just a stylist - he becomes a therapist .
“ I enjoy creating happiness for my guests - and not just through hair ,” Killingsworth said . “ Of course , I make them look great , but when I see the light in their faces when they are excited and happy from the experience - I know I have done my job .”
And that means that he has to use his skills of listening to the guests request and staying up-to-date with the newest hair styles .
“ The most challenging part of my job is balancing family , work and personal time , all while meeting the needs of my guest ,” Killingsworth said . “ I love who I am and wouldn ’ t change anything . If anything , I would clone me !”
He said that there is not anywhere in the world he would rather be living than right here in Huntsville .
“ I am right where I want to be . I love my community ,” Killingsworth said .

Justin Killingsworth

Justin Killingsworth is the owner and operator of The Color Bar . He grew up in Huntsville , surrounded by love .
“ My mimi was the most influential person . She is my maternal grandmother ,” Killingsworth said . “ I learned at an early age to show love from several individuals . Learning that community makes a difference has motivated me to be involved in the lives of the children of Huntsville .”
And be involved is what he has done . Since his return to Huntsville , Killingsworth has dedicated his time to making a difference wherever he can . He is the current president of the Downtown Business Alliance , which was the driving force behind the beautiful Holiday Lights that have shined brightly from downtown to Sam Houston State University . But the inspiration has moved across the city with many areas joining in to brighten up the holidays .
Killingsworth graduated from Huntsville ISD , having attended early childhood at Tomorrow ’ s Promise Montessori School . He went on to the University of Utah where he attained a business major degree .
“ After working in the corporate world , I knew it wasn ’ t for me and went to beauty school ,” Killingsworth said .
From there , he took his knowledge of business and beauty and developed a plan that has skyrocketed his career .
