The Kiwanis club of Huntsville hosts an annual Pancake Supper Fundraiser, featuring an all-you-caneat feast of pancakes, sausages, milk, coffee and orange juice for just $ 5.
“ Kiwanis was the first civic organization in Huntsville Chartered in 1928 and put on the first pancake supper in 1954, which makes this our 65th annual Pancake Supper,” said club president Bryan Matthys.“ It is a tradition that a few of us in the club want to continue because we are the second generation of Kiwanians.
“ We grew up with the pancake supper when it was at the High School at Mance Park, and hope it grows to the size it was back then. We will have our history
binders on display at the supper, dating from 1928 to the present.”
The money raised at the pancake supper goes towards helping the library purchase books for local third-graders and their summer reading program. The Kiwanis also gives away scholarships each year to college bound students who are in Key Club at Huntsville High School.
“ We also support boys scouts since 1932, SAAFE House, CASA, Hospitality House, Cub Scouts, Roxy Douglas Foundation, Boys & Girls Club and Good Shepherd Mission, as well as other special needs for some when they arise,” Matthys added.
Members of the Huntsville Kiwanis Club recently pledge $ 10,000 to the Josey Lodge capital campaign.
