The seamstress can show your sidekick how to handle any tricky fastenings on the dress , such as hidden corsets , hooks , or a tiny row of buttons down the back .
WHY ARE ALTERATIONS SO EXPENSIVE ?
The answer — you are paying for the seamstress ’ s time and skill , plus materials , meetings and fittings , regardless of what you originally paid for the garment . To provide the service , they still need to be adequately compensated .
The trend of low-cost clothing has created a , perception that fees for alterations are out of line because they ’ re not coming down to match the low value placed on clothes .
