Now with Anthem and Sentry , Dixon ’ s family enters their fifth decade of entrepreneurial existence in Downtown . With one son already working at Sentry , Dixon hopes to sustain his companies long enough for one of his children to see it as something they wish to continue .
“ Passing it on is possible , but I just want my kids to have their own dreams and aspirations ,” said Dixon .
Elms and Dixon also share a love for
God and faith , and are leaders in University Heights Baptist Church . Dixon leads worship . Elms remains active in audio visual work there on Sundays , after previously having been over the AV and buildings & grounds full time .
“ Faith drives our success ,” said Dixon . “ It has everything to do with how we treat people at Anthem and Sentry .”
Looking ahead , Dixon and Elms are reinstituting Anthem Productions , to help other artists more professionally pull off concerts and productions . From sound and lights , to consultancy at Sam Houston State University ’ s sportscasting venues , Dixon and Elms are optimistic about what their emerging companies will do in the months and years to come .
Dixon and Elms also take pride in some of the local causes their businesses allow them to support and be active with CASA , the Chamber of Commerce , Rays of Hope , and the Good Shepherd Mission top their list , outside of churches .
“ Church is how we got started , and is what keeps us together ,” said Elms .
