so I stepped out on faith and purchased an existing restaurant , Humphrey ’ s , in March
2000 , I knew I had found my calling .
George recalls many people advising him against purchasing a restaurant in a small town , but he says his only challenge has been staffing .
Being in a college town , located so close to campus , he hires a lot of college students , and his turnover is high . In addition , he expects them to have the same work ethic , same dedication , determination , and love for the industry as he does . He values his success in the community and wants to always provide service and products that will keep his customers happy . He brags about a few longtime employees , Travis , Ian , and Makayla , who he describes as the backbone of his day-to-day success . Additionally , he credits his fiance Emily with keeping him grounded .
Humphrey ’ s is a family-oriented restaurant located conveniently just south of downtown Huntsville . It is within walking distance from Sam Houston State University , and a hometown favorite for
many , with a nice indoor and outdoor patio area , excellent customer service and fresh hot food .
Humphrey ’ s attracts and serves on an average of 150 people per day . Known best for its steaks and burgers , Humphrey ’ s is open 7 days a week and serves a full bar .
