Huntsville Independent School District
Living up to their motto , “ Building Champions ”, HISD is dedicated toward the development of their students . With youth programs and challenging academics , this school district works toward meeting their education goals and surpassing them .
Education options range from Pre-K to college preparatory options with expansive extracurricular options for students of all ages to participate in . Currently , HISD uses a typical education model and also offers alternative pathways for students to explore by offering flexible and personalized learning opportunities .
Choir , dance , band and theater are implemented into the curriculum early on to encourage students to explore their creativity and express it by joining their peers in artistic cooperation .
Athletics in this district are a large part of the extracurricular picture as well , with 11 sports for male and female students to compete . HISDs athletes excel far beyond the home-field and go on to compete in UIL competitions within the district and the state by being regularly rewarded for their abilities with prestigious titles .
Students are prepared for the workforce as well with the Career and Technical Education Program . Offering 16 Texas Education Agency recognized career clusters for participants to take part in . Older students can also obtain licensing and certification for a number of quality industries like cosmetology , welding and nursing to further their professional development early on .
Attending higher education is encouraged , with close to $ 4 million in scholarships obtained by students yearly . Whether HISD graduates aspire to attend four year universities or 2 year associate programs , building champions takes community involvement and support from HISD faculty , which they are more than happy to provide .

Sam Houston State University
The primary higher-education institution throughout Huntsvilles history with over 140 years of meaningful education and career preparation is Sam Houston State University . A state school within the Texas state system , this is a public university with a specialization toward criminal justice , hosting the country ’ s first Ph . D . for Forensic Science .
Attentive faculty and minimal class sizes make this university a competitive choice for students looking for a more personal approach to learning . Holding over 90 degree programs at the baccalaureate level and 50 masters degrees , Sam Houston State has a wealth of options for degree plans .
This institution also hosts the region ’ s primary center for teaching Osteopathic Medicine . Sam Houston State takes pride in its Mass Communications department , which is prominent within the university due to previously graduating news anchor and reporter Dan Rather .

Alpha Omega Academy
A more private option for Christ-minded families is the renowned Alpha Omega Academy . They have been educating from pre-K through twelfth grade with partnership from parents since 1997 .
This institution was designed with God in mind and works to instill in their students moral goodness , truth and a commitment to meaningful community service . In every level of education , Alpha Omega Academy encourages students to incorporate grammar skills and logical reasoning to help students reach their highest potential in education in an orderly way .
Extracurriculars and athletics are available and work towards the same goals . Through these experiences the academy hopes to train students into humble and gracious leaders within their community .
Headmaster at Alpha Omega Academy , Clint Allen said ,” What makes Alpha Omega distinct within our community is our belief that education should be built upon the word of God and scripture within the bible . All of our education should be filtered through and built upon God ’ s word within the school . Our methods are classical , we want to teach our students how to think about issues in the world , how to argue persuasively , how to think critically and to reason with a christian worldview .”
New Waverly Independent School District
This school district educates students from kindergarten to high school in order to bring them a bright future . Alongside community stakeholders , New Waverly ISD teaches sample lesson plans and works to help students grasp difficult concepts while preparing them for careers outside of the classroom .
Its composition of elementary , intermediate , junior high and high schools allows a greater level of control when it comes to instructional plans and education programs . This allows the students of this district to navigate and innovate within a flexible system of state mandated instruction without confusion . In 2015 , New Waverly ISD received recognition that allowed it to institute a pre-designed lesson plan that meets the needs of the community it serves .
Career and technical programs are ample within the district and give students opportunities to learn about skills that peak their interests . Comprising technology , business marketing , finance , agriculture , culinary and family consumer sciences , New Waverly ISD surely offers a suite of non-traditional education opportunities alongside typically expected extracurriculars .
