it can be used to say, “See this is why minorities or women shouldn’t be here.” If I do something right it can be used to say, “Look! There are some good ones out there.” But each black person represents all black people, even though that’s the most ridiculous perspective on the planet

This may not be the most articulate post and I do apologize. This concept is hard for me to grapple with, and the knowledge that I’ll have these ups and downs about my race all my life does not make me happy. I feel like a little kid throwing a temper tantrum. I want people to see me first. I don’t want to prove myself. I don’t want to be a poster kid or a disappointment for the whole race. I don’t want the burden or the insecurities. And I don’t want to be anything else. I can’t have what I want, and it’s pissing me off.
