Reaching for an Empty Heart
This piece is representative of the depressive spirit that runs through my family. As it is something that we all have dealt with or are dealing with this piece represents that feeling not being able to breathe because it feels like the depression is personified and slowly squeezing you to the brink. The hand is reaching for an empty heart, trying to grasp on to what might be left or trying to squeeze out what is there depending on the interpretation. This piece is probably one of the darker paintings I have done and I think that it was something that I needed because without it I wouldn’t know how to push through the times when this image was what I felt.
