Conflict Resolution

It is the process of ending a conflict through cooperation and finding solutions that both sides agree on. Tolerance is important to prevent conflict and promote peace.

Tolerance includes accepting the differences of others and allowing them to be how they are without any disapproval.

Negotiation is the process where both sides make compromises in order to reach an agreement. (Remember compromise is not the same as commitment.) Negotiation includes talking, listening, considering the other’s point of view. When both parts negotiate, none should blame the other, rather, they should talk about alternatives to solve the problem.

Mediation is the process in which trained people help others solve conflicts in a peaceful way. Mediation involves the use of strategies for conflict resolution, communication and negotiation.
