An addiction can be like an illness or a disease that needs treatment. Treatment for drug addictions may be far more complicated than treating ordinary illnesses, and it often includes long periods of time before an addict truly overcomes his addictions.

“When life has lost it sense of meaning there are only two possible answers: the equivalence of pleasure or success as an alternative to happiness or the sincere recognition of the loss of the meaning: nihilism.” (Yepes, 223)
