20th-Century Genius Award Paper and Presentation (due Week Four)
Prepare a 1400 – 1750 word paper nominating a 20th-
century figure whose work/artistic contributions can be classified in b
oth the Age of Modernism and the Age of Pluralism for the 20th Cent
ury Genius Award. The nominated figure should stand out in your mi
nd as a genius of Western culture. The paper should include a synopsi
s of the individual’s life and times, a survey of the ideas or artistic wo
rks recognized as reflecting genius, and an appraisal of their impact o
n the arts and culture. You should also assess whether the individual’s
contributions are likely to continue influencing cultural development.
Papers will be assessed for the following: content, organization, and st
ructure and how well students defend their choice of genius. Detail an
d creativity will be factors in assessing the final work. Students shoul
d cite at least two outside sources in writing this paper.
In addition, prepare a 3 –
6 slide PowerPoint Presentation in which you defend your choice and
highlight the nominee’s major contributions. Explain why the nomine
