THE HULT STUDENT
Philip Prohaska
German
Class of 2019
MBA with a Dual Degree in Masters in
Business Analytics
San Francisco campus
Languages spoken: English and German
Why Hult? My aim was to use Hult as a catalyst to
expand my business experience outside of
engineering. I wanted to add management and
business knowledge to my technical expertise to
understand the holistic picture of business. The
diversity at Hult, from the students to the staff, is
something I would not want to miss out on.
Biggest challenge? I was aware of the fact that Hult
claimed to be an international business school but I
didn’t expect it to be true to that extent. The
challenge of communicating with so many different
cultures has been an eye-opening and valuable
experience. On a daily basis, I get to talk about
contemporary topics with my cohort. We discover
each other’s views on our own country’s issues and
we gain a unique insight into different cultures,
which is something that gives you a huge advantage
within business.

Biggest lesson learned? Overall, I’ve learned about
how important it is to learn from others. Whenever we
discuss cases in class, professors ask about our
personal experiences. Once we start sharing our past
and everyone begins to chime in—that’s when we
learn the most. In class—and in business—it’s
imperative to be open to other people’s insights and
opinions and to not only learn from your own mistakes
and experiences but also from others’.
Hult is... like family. The staff, including the Deans, are
so attentive. They remember your name, talk to you
between classes, and always have an open ear for
any kind of problem.
