THE HULT STUDENT Aaron Salamon British/Canadian Class of 2018 San Francisco and Shanghai campuses Languages spoken: English, Mandarin, and French Why Hult? I believe that Hult is far more practical than other business schools. Rather than just learning about the theoretical and academic side of business, there’s also a huge focus on practical learning and team projects. Each class has its own practical project, and you work in diverse teams to deliver solutions to real challenges proposed by real clients. Biggest personal impact? My Hult experience has changed me as a person and has given me an opportunity to really identify my strengths and skills. Seeking feedback regularly has been a valuable lesson for me. It’s not just about learning how to give feedback effectively, it’s also about learning how to receive it and execute real change. Why did you decide to pursue an MBA? Having worked as a management consultant for Accenture, I was looking to broaden my knowledge of the core business functions and the workings of an operational team. Hult offered me a chance to acquire that in-depth knowledge. I also wanted to expand my international network, and what better place to do that than at one of the most international business schools out there? “Getting the chance to help solve a key strategic issue for a major global player such as the World Economic Forum (WEF) was one of the best learning experiences during my time at Hult.” 20 Best memory? Getting the chance to help solve a key strategic issue for a major global player such as the World Economic Forum (WEF) was one of the best learning experiences during my time at Hult. There have been more practical challenges throughout the course, and they have been a great insight into real-life scenarios that I may well be faced with at some point during my career. Why San Francisco? San Francisco is at the heart of the global startup ecosystem. Being so close to Silicon Valley and being around so many startups, venture capital firms, and multinationals make it an amazing place to learn. The opportunities to network and attend meetups are plentiful, you just need to put yourself out there.
