HULT VSS
A GREEN CHINA WITH GLOBAL IMPACT
How Peggy Liu (Chairperson of JUCCCE—Joint U.S.-China Collaboration on Clean
Energy) is harnessing sustainability to power national growth.
TIME Magazine’s “Hero of the Environment”, Peggy Liu is a leading
international figure in the field of sustainability and a key figure in the
promotion of cross-border cooperation. Through her collaborative
initiatives Peggy is driving transformative change in China’s energy
usage and city development. She is a firm believer in the power of
one person to inspire collaboration and make the world a better place.
Peggy joined Hult in Shanghai on December 4th to share her
vision for driving transformative change in China through JUCCCE’s
China Dream project. The initiative brings together China experts,
communication specialists, and sustainability leaders to create a
different story about China, a China that is livable and not ruined by
pollution.
In order to achieve this vision Peggy told members of the Hult
audience that she had to bridge cultures and industries. She said
that this type of cross-border and cross-sector "bridge" would form
the next generation of service sector jobs and that we need to train
these “collaborative leaders” at “places like Hult.” She finished with
a discussion of the shift she sees towards a “purpose economy”
which is driven by purpose and doing something meaningful rather
than by information. Peggy’s closing piece of advice to members of
the Hult community? “Don’t be a robot! What is life about if it is not
feeling like you are contributing to society? And to do this you need
to be passionate. Be a person first and an expert second.” Listen to
